On February 20, a video titled “The Daily Life Reveal of the Original Diva Idol, After School’s Kahi!” was uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘CGN.’ In the video, Kahi, now raising two sons, reflected on her life after leaving After School and her time spent with her family in Bali.
Kahi shared, “When I was an idol, I really had to work hard to be loved, to get attention, and to be recognized. I think I worked like crazy for that. But after I had children, I realized that I had been desperately chasing recognition, just like a racehorse. I shifted my focus to my family, and it became less difficult. I realized that I had been living so desperately.”
Despite After School’s success, Kahi revealed that she faced tough emotional struggles: “I went to church and cried by myself. I felt so lonely, lost, and depressed. It was really hard. I felt like I was at rock bottom after leaving After School. I was in really bad shape. The company didn’t take care of me, and I struggled with financial difficulties.”

Kahi overcame these challenges by focusing on her faith. She mentioned her new chapter: “I had always dreamed of running an academy, but it wasn’t possible due to the circumstances. I was in Bali, and while I could have worked in Korea, I kept thinking, ‘I’m getting older, and the opportunities for me to do things are decreasing. What am I doing?’ Those thoughts made me feel emotionally drained.”
She admitted, “I wasn’t happy. I went through a really tough time. I was depressed. Then my husband suddenly had to come to Korea. As soon as I came to Korea, I felt determined to make my dreams come true, and that’s when I seriously began to pursue it.”

Kahi, who married a businessman in 2016 and has two sons, lived in Bali for five years before returning to Korea last year.
